When a leading Publisher Lies for a few thousand rupees

One of the leading publishers of illustrated books hailing from New Delhi M/S Roli Books Pvt. Ltd. & its Director Kapil Kapoor is being prosecuted under the sections 420, 406 120B, of the Indian Penal Code post the complaint of a Delhi based store which placed an order with the accused in the month of November 2010 against which an initial payment to the tune of 50% of the order value was done by the complainant.

As per the contract the accused had agreed to collect the rest of the amount after the delivery of goods is done and the same confirmed as receipt by the complainant.

As per the agreed terms and conditions the books had to be delivered within a certain timeframe for which the complainant did request on several occasions. There were both telephonic and email conversations initiated by the complainant but none were replied to by the accused.

Also it was pre informed that in case the order is cancelled the accused will have to be liable to refund the advance amount paid along with any further losses/ damages, also any loss of reputation suffered by the complainant on the non-receipt of books was to be paid up by the accused.

After the Publihser was unable to deliver the books within the timeline as discussed initially the complainant had cancelled the order, post which the complainant was threatened with dire consequences citing political connections by the accused. Furthering the officials of Roli Books along with some anti social elements forcefully entered one of the showrooms of the complainant and ransacked the same while removing valuable books and tried to overpower the cashier at the counter. The same was reported to the nearest police station which had the officials of the accused company run for cover.

The staff of the complainants’ showroom though was able to catch hold of one of the persons who is supposedly the finance head of the accused company: Mr. Saurabh Masih, who was handed over to the police for further action.

There is much proof of the malified intentions of the accused of taking money and not delivering onto the promised items.

This is an attempt to make the general public and other publishers community aware of such cheats in the market who being big in business size don’t really have the ethical sense of doing business. We look forward to strict action against the accused.
