Bonded software engineers
I wish to share an experience with the people who are seeking for software job. Few years back a person, known to me, has been appointed as software engineer in a famous company X. He has been assigned in a bond agreement as per the norms of the company X.
1) The surety amount value is in few lakhs.
2) As per the company rule, he has surrendered a blank cheque (without date filled) to the X company at the time of joining.
3)As per the bond he should have to work for few years in that X company, if he quit the job for any reason before expiring the bond period ,even at last month of bond period , he has to pay the entire agreed surety amount (in lakhs) as above to the X company. If not, he will not be given the service certificate for his served period.
4) Few days after joining in the X Company, as per the agreement he has been deputed and ordered to work in another software Y company. He was in the pay role of the X company only and has been paid Rs 8000(Rs Eight thousand only) as monthly salary by X company. The same time the software Y Company has paid to X company Rs 20,000(Twenty thousands) per month for the job he performed for Y Company. This will be continued for the entire bond period.
5) The salary Rs 8000.00 given by X company was not sufficient in the capital city of the state where the Y company is located. The amount was hand to mouth only. There will not be any other benefits given to him other than the salary amount of Rs 8000.00(Rs. Eight thousands).
6) It was agreed by the company X in the agreement itself to increase the salary during the subsequent years, but the monthly salary has not been increased in the subsequent years.
7) As he is working in Y company and it is away from X Company, he would not have any chance to ask anything like clarification or grievance etc., to X company officials. He was isolated throughout his bond period in software Y company, where he has been working. If he tries to contact his original X employer, he will be terminated and he will not be given proper service certificate. With this fear, he has been continued to work there itself.
8) The software Y company official squeezed him like anything and extracted work from him. He has been always kept with a mental burden and threat of terminating him at any time from the software Y company with adverse remarks. Naturally, he has been worked very hard like a slave.
9) It is impossible to quit the job in the middle, if so, his service certificate will not be given, until, he complete the entire bond period. Therefore, the service already he put up will not be useful for his future carrier. Moreover, he has to pay the surety amount to the X company, otherwise legal action will be taken against him by producing the blank cheque already the X company has in their custody.
Anyway, with great difficult, struggle and lot of pain, he has completed his bond period. Now he has been appointed directly in third software Z Company and drawing monthly salary of multi times more than his previous employment. However, the worst period he has suffered come to his thinking always. I noticed the same many times while talking to him. Hence, I wish to expose the facts to others also, so, the job seekers will be getting a chance to escape from such evil things. I heard many of the software engineers had been hired as above all are being exploited. Everyone is having different kinds of stories like this.
Considering their future carrier, they unable to expose their inner feelings to others, because the companies like above are all acting together as one group and exploiting the youths in INDIA as much as possible in different ways. The job seekers should be careful to assign any agreement and should think twice before accepting any appointment.
The government should formulate certain rules and regulations for the companies who are in the role of exploiting the educated youth. The bond amount should be reasonable and the bond period should not be more than one year, if not, the officials of the company should be punished under the law.
