Good day to you! Let me first introduce myself. My name is Anjani George and I am from Kochi in Kerala (India). I do not know where to begin.

My husband Mr. George V. George is what you would call “car crazy”. He loves cars and is quite an expert with them. He literally gorges on articles related to new cars, new models their features and so on. Let me tell you… that our first car was a Maruthi Suzuki 800 which we later upgraded to a Tata Indica, followed by a Ford Fiesta(Diesel – Top Model). All these decisions were taken taking into consideration aspects like funds, mileage. Model and style. All the while, he kept saying that “QUALITY CARS” are Japanese ones and we were quite keen on Honda & Toyota all the while. While Maruthi 800 & Tata Indica (Diesel) were small cars that served their purpose, we were EXTREMELY HAPPY with our Ford Fiesta which served us for a period of three years. Service was excellent and despite having crossed 1 lakh kilometers was in a PERFECT CONDITION even at the time of sale.

Finally, about 2years back in I think in Jan’10, we decided on a new car. Our selection was between another Ford Fiesta (Diesel – Top Model), Honda Civic & Toyota Corolla Altis. Fiesta and Honda Civic, we knew were proven models. At that time the Corolla Altis was a relatively new model. We fell for the looks and the style and ordered a white one, because we felt after all it is a “TOYOTA” car and there can be no faults. Besides a petrol car, though more expensive to maintain was sure to be more comfortable and better to drive.

We realized about 6 months later that the decision we had so carefully taken was a “WRONG” one. I do not know much of the technical aspects, but right from the beginning there have been 2 NAGGING PROBLEMS which have been continuing till date.

1. A problem with the steering

My husband identified this problem right from the start of use of the vehicle. The problem was brought to the notice of Toyota dealer in Kochi, not once but several times. Several times they have taken the car for repair of this roblem, got it sorted out but the same problem crops up after a week. Once we felt that the problem cannot be handled by the mechanics at Toyota dealer, we have contacted TOYOTA’S main office in Bangalore, India and about thrice a special “ENGINEER” was deuputed by Toyota to Cochin to resolve the problem, but with no avail. The problem still persists and it is affecting other parts like tyres, brake pads. We have the Engineers report which reports the problem. Now, when the complaint is being registered both the dealer and your main office at Bangalore simply ignore the complaint. We are at loss whether this is a manufacturing problem of just one car or whether the problem persisi with all TOYOTA COROLLA ALTIS vehicles.

2. A manufacturing problem with the roof of the car due to which there is an irritating rattling sound from the roof. Every time the mechanic takes it for repair he says it has been resolved but the problem from day 1 STILL PERSISITS.

We feel really bad when we see “TOYOTAS” advertisement which talks of “QUALITY PROMISES”. I am a Civil Engineer and I work in an ISO certified company which gives lots of importance to Quality. So it pains me to see that such a HUGE ORAGANISATION like TOYOTA advertises FALSE PROMISES OF QUALITY without doing what should be done. My husband is an Electrical Engineer, running his own company and I know the tensions he faces to provide QUALITY SERVICES to his clients.

Just nearly two years have gone by, we have already changed the brake pads and we have so much rattling sounds from all over the vehicle. We are thinking of “DISPOSING” the vehicle. We are shattered at the lack of response and are really regret having wasted “HARD EARNED” MONEY”on the vehicle. I hope you will look into the matter and AT LEAST ………..GET BACK TO US with an effort to resolve the problem. I don’t think we would recommend a TOYOTA vehicle to any one because once bitten twice shy.

I hope you understand the seriousness of this issue and expect you to get back to me on the issue, because in a customer based industry, the customer is king and we have all right to get an explanation on the issue from Toyota.
