Sirs, here is a copy of the letter I had sent to Emirates to which they have not even bothered to reply.

Good day,

This refers to your recent flight delays.

On the 25th of August 2010, we had a confirmed ticket to board the flight EK-781 to Lagos. Though I reported for boarding on time at the gate, I was told that my baggage had not arrived from another of your flights that I had arrived Dubai by, and as such I could not board the flight. This, despite the fact that we told the gate keeper, that the bag could arrive later and we could and would collect it later. This was not allowed.

I was therefore not permitted to board the flight and was given a flight the next day, 18 hours later! This caused me to miss my connecting flight at Lagos and therefore caused serious disruptions and losses to our business plans and to related important matters. And to make matters worse, the bag itself was received in a damaged condition.

We would like to engage your top management and demand to know what kind of procedures and policies that you follow – where you feel so very comfortable in offering such poor quality and unreliable services?

This is not the only instance of failure on your part. In all of 2010, (wherein your operations / performance has been particularly bad – more so than 2009 and 2008 and progressively deteriorating all the same) not a single aircraft of yours has taken off on time. Delays of one to three hours seem to be the normal trend in your airline. You also cancel flights at the drop of a hat, claiming unusual circumstances like weather, when all other airlines are flying / operating. Other common excuses for not operating a flight are “technical reasons” and “operational reasons”. Would that be a measure of your maintenance standards and therefore your safety, reliability and quality standards?
