An Indian was among three people arrested today by Nepal police for allegedly possessing fake Indian currency with the face value of Rs 12.2 million. Besides the Indian, the two others arrested from Kalanki area on the outskirts of Kathmandu were a Nepalese and a Filipino respectively. Police identified the Indian as 25-year-old Nasim Alam of Betiya in Bihar and claimed to have sized fake Indian currency with the face value of Rs 12.2 million from the trio. The Nepalese national was identified as 24-year-old Dik Bahadur Nepali of Khotang district and the third accused as 37-year-old Danis Sensej from Philippines. The three were possessing fake Indian currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination, Purshottam Mahat, a police official at Kalimat Police Station, claimed, adding that they were arrested on the basis of a tip off in a joint operation by Anti-terrorist Cell of Nepal Police and local police personnel. |
